What is it

In the Oil & Gas and Maritime industries, it is imperative that the integrity of hatches and doors onboard are intact. Doors and Hatches are used in areas where there could be a high chance of flooding. In the instance of a major incident, they will limit the water from entering the structure. This will ensure the safety of all crew onboard and loss of downtime for the asset. Regular testing will certify that maritime assets comply with international regulations such as SOLAS (Safety of Life at Sea) and capable of preventing the passage of water in any direction under the head of water likely to occur in intact and damaged conditions. Using Ultrasonic testing on hatches and doors provides a non-intrusive methodology and reliable and accurate assessment of the integrity of the hatch or door.

Types of Asset can be completed on

Marine

  • Containership
  • Tanker Vessels
  • Naval Ships
  • Cruise Liner
  • Offshore Vessels (OSV)
  • Tugboats

Oil & Gas

  • Drillship
  • Semi-Submersible
  • FPSO
  • Platform
  • Jackup

How is it carried out?

The Ultrasonic transmitter is placed inside the hatch and Ultrasonic receiver is used on the outside of the hatch, scanning the perimeter. Any signal created will then advise whether there is breach in the seal and can be marked and noted.
